Liquidation price calculator

On isolated margin a position is force-closed when the loss eats the margin, less the maintenance margin the exchange requires. Enter the entry price, the leverage and the maintenance margin to see the threshold.

The formula is the isolated-margin one with no margin added later. Exchanges apply tiered maintenance margins and charge liquidation fees, so the real threshold can differ slightly.

Frequently asked questions

What is maintenance margin?

The minimum share of the position value you must keep as collateral. Below it the exchange closes the position automatically.

Why is high leverage dangerous?

At 50x a 2% move against you wipes the margin. The room to liquidation is roughly 100/leverage percent.

How do I push liquidation further away?

Lower the leverage, add margin or cut the position. A stop loss placed before the threshold takes you out at a price you choose.
